Windows 8 Keyboard shortcuts – general keyboard shortcuts in Windows 8 (70-687)

The Configuring Windows 8 exam (70-687) includes a lot of information as identified on the “Skills Being Measured” outline on the Microsoft Learning page for the exam. As the page defines: The information after “This objective may include but is not limited to” is intended to further define or scope the objective by describing the types of skills and topics that may be tested for the objective. However, it is not an exhaustive list of skills and topics that could be included on the exam for a given skill area. You may be tested on other skills and topics related to the objective that are not explicitly listed here.” What I have below regarding the Windows 8 Keyboard shortcuts will most likely NOT be on the exam but having said that, it is good information to know. There are some of the general keyboard shortcuts that you can use to navigate around Windows 8: F1  --  Display Help   F2  --  Rename the selected item   F3  --  Search for a fil...

The Windows 8 operating system is the newest member of the Microsoft Windows family. It differs from earlier Windows releases as much for what it does not change as for what it does change. That is, the features that IT pros loved about Windows 7 are still there in Windows 8—just better. The same keyboard shortcuts, management tools, security features, and deployment options are available in Windows 8. But in many cases, Windows 8 improves them in intuitive and significant ways. Some examples are the ribbon in File Explorer and faster disk encryption when using BitLocker Drive Encryption. This book describes these enhancements plus many of the new features in Windows 8. Download the PDF version of the book here. If you prefer a hard copy of the final book, you can order it here for $14.99

BOOK REVIEW - CompTIA A+ 220-801 and 220-802 Authorized Cert Guide (3rd Edition)

From my review at Amazon.com: I have been reading books authored and co-authored by Scott Mueller since 1998. His Upgrading and Repairing PCs books are a MUST HAVE reference for any hardware tech. The most current is the 20th edition - Publication Date: August 26, 2011 ISBN-10: 0789747103  ISBN-13: 978-0789747105. I have personally used that series of books (each iteration, as it was published) for both knowledge enhancement and for reference information when I needed more detail or more precision information for any hardware subject matter at hand. I am a certified trainer and have always told students in my A+ certification classes as well as my introduction to PC classes "if you are going to buy any additional companion book for this A+ certification class, be it for studying for the exam itself or for your reference down the road, get a book written by Scott Mueller - he is THE subject matter expert for all things relating to computer hardware." As with the Seco...
