This is why the Better Business Bureau is useless; it does more for the businesses than the consumer

In the coming days I will be posting more regarding this complaint I have against Connecticut Computer Service but as you can see, because they offered an inferior settlement, which I rejected, the Bureau considers the matter closed.

I will follow up with all the details over the next few days but in the meantime if you’d like to not have a negative customer service experience I would avoid Connecticut Computer Service and choose another training / testing provider – they are quick to absolve themselves of any responsibilities to their customers. They do an awesome job of blame transfer and holding themselves harmless as if they were the victim.

Despite what the BBB indicates “If the response addresses the disputed issues” (it did not) “BBB forwards the company's response to the customer for an opportunity to accept or rebut the company's position” (I rejected it).

“At that time, if the customer does not provide additional information with documentation supporting his/her position and is unable to refute the company's evidence, then BBB is obliged to consider the matter resolved.” I did refute the company's evidence; they were equal to blame in the situation as the testing provider but at the end of the day they have marked the matter “resolved”.

After thoroughly reading all correspondence regarding your complaint against the above named company, BBB has determined that the company addressed your dispute. At this time, we are closing your complaint accordingly.

It’s not; because of Connecticut Computer Service and Prometric testing I lost a vacation day because of their combined scheduling screw up and I needed to reschedule to take the exam on a different day at the personal cost of another weekend of refresh study and an additional half day vacation.

Prometric, to it’s credit, owned up to their part of the issue and met me part of the way at a cost to themselves. I lost something and they tried to make restitution for their part of the screw up by owning it and taking some loss on their side.

Connecticut Computer Service, only after being contacted by BBB through this complaint, offered restitution that came and no cost or loss to them which to me does not resolve this issue because they are not being put in an equal position of being impacted like I was due to this issue through ZERO fault of my own.

More on that in a future post.

Business Name: Connecticut Computer Service, Inc.

BBB is a non-profit, non-governmental organization which promotes business self-regulation. BBB conciliates complaints on an informal basis. Although we request cooperation from a company, we can not require a company to offer a specific adjustment.

In some instances, BBB receives a company's explanation with documentation supporting its position, rather than an offer of a specific adjustment. If the response addresses the disputed issues, BBB forwards the company's response to the customer for an opportunity to accept or rebut the company's position. At that time, if the customer does not provide additional information with documentation supporting his/her position and is unable to refute the company's evidence, then BBB is obliged to consider the matter resolved. Likewise, if a company makes an effort to resolve a dispute satisfactorily and its customer remains dissatisfied despite the company's efforts to satisfy the customer, then we are also obliged to consider the matter resolved.

After thoroughly reading all correspondence regarding your complaint against the above named company, BBB has determined that the company addressed your dispute. At this time, we are closing your complaint accordingly.
